A Time To Revisit Slow Living
I'm going back to the beginning to create more simplicity in a world that's feeling more complicated than ever. Plus, my online retreat is coming up! More details in the post.
Since I wrote my last post, I’ve been feeling creatively stuck.
My inner voice has been shouting loudly: You Don’t Need To Create Anything Else. I’d been ignoring it but had still not been able to create anything. Even when I went walking in the forest, when my creative voice is ususally loud, I got nothing.
I’d been wondering if it was time to say goodbye to it all. Maybe I have said all I have to say on slow living. Maybe the world has gotten too complicated to simplify. In this post-pandemic world, I’m seeing more melancholy than ever.
We are burned out, overwhelmed and inundated.
I personally feel so inundated with the pressure to know and be across so many areas. Every step I take feels like I need to read textbooks worth of content to make informed decisions. Wether that’s education, parenting, voting and politics, trans issues, food choices, environmental impacts, reproductive rights, social justice or how to do business in an ethical way…
It all seems so important and urgent and I feel constricted.
And then it happened.
I logged into my email service provider to send an email to my subscribers letting them know I have new coaching times available. I couldn’t think of much to write so it was short. While I was there, I got a notice saying I had 3 months left on my plan.
Because Im moving to Substack, it’s time to start downloading all of the assets I had uploaded into that other platform.
Over the last 3+ years, there is a lot of gold in there.
I opened up the hosting area for my courses (The Slow Life and The Martyr To Matriarch Method) and I decided to watch one of my own videos from the first module.
The version of me from 3 years ago was so naive and innocent in some ways. But also, so self assured in a way I find it hard to connect with at the moment. The version of me who created that course was unencumbered by the stress and impact of the last couple of years - both from global events and the things going on in my personal life.
Life feels complicated so I was trying to solve that by finding a new solution. I’d lost sight of the knowledge that the simple truths are usually the best.
It’s time to go back to the beginning and reconnect with the version of me who KNOWS.
And I would like to invite you along.
Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing the slow living foundations that I originally connected with. The essential things that I found worked to simplify life, drown out the overwhelm and hold back the tide.
These are simple truths with a profound impact.
Heres how it works.
I’ll be posting a weekly-ish long form newsletter that will be free to all subscribers. All free subscribers will have access to the community chat function.
If you choose to become a paid subscriber, and support my work for a small monthly or annual fee, you will be invited to join my bi-monthly online gatherings where we discuss and discover ways to implement the ideas into your own unique life. You’ll also have discounted access to my 1:1 coaching offers.
There is also a founding member plan which costs a little more. This option includes access to the videos and content from my course The Slow Life as well as a live round of the course itself. It’s implementation, a critical review of the content and how I’m applying the ideas in my own life now, as well as some small group coaching and discussion time. The first iteration of this will be starting in June. I’m very excited for this part!
As a thank you to all subscribers, I will be hosting an online retreat called REFLECT, this Monday 22nd May at 8pm AEST. You won’t have to register, as long as you are subscribed here, you’ll receive a post update a couple of days before with the access details. And the replay will live here when it’s available too.
Rachelle, I relate to this so much. I've loved following you on Insta you are so open and have a great vibe. I think going back to the slow living foundations sounds perfect. I have found on this slow living journey there is so much we can learn from each others stories, you have so much wisdom to offer. I can't wait to join you on here on Substack.
